Tehran: Iran has signaled its willingness to halt the ongoing conflict but only under certain conditions, according to a senior representative of the country’s supreme leadership. The statement comes amid escalating tensions following joint military attacks reportedly carried out by the United States and Israel.
Abdul Majeed Hakim Ilahi, a special representative of Iran’s Supreme Leader, said Iran is open to stopping the war if its key demands are met. Speaking to ANI, he explained that Iran would consider halting its retaliatory actions if the United States and Israel immediately stop their attacks and agree to remove all sanctions imposed on the country
.
Hakim emphasized that Iran is not against dialogue, but any negotiations must be conducted with dignity and respect for Iran’s national interests. “We are ready to stop the war and move toward talks, but the discussions must be honorable and must not go against Iran’s rights,” he said.
His remarks came shortly after U.S. President Donald Trump reportedly announced that the military strikes against Iran could continue for another month. Iran’s response to this announcement has drawn global attention, as many countries are closely monitoring the situation in the Middle East.
Hakim also stated that the responsibility to end the war lies primarily with the United States because, according to him, the conflict began with American attacks.
He further recalled earlier diplomatic negotiations held in Geneva with Oman acting as a mediator. According to Hakim, those talks had reached an advanced stage and both sides were close to reaching a final agreement before tensions escalated again.
The latest statement from Iran indicates that while the country is willing to explore diplomatic solutions, it expects an end to military aggression and economic sanctions before meaningful peace talks can begin.
